The sailing area of the Ortolan stretches for endless miles.
In the Netherlands a large amount of the grounds are taking in by water, and thereforeit is best to discover the lowlands by ship. You will be surprised how versatile our sailing area is. Besides the Wadden Sea, Lake IJssel and the Frisian Lakes, we also like to plan in the Ketelmeer and Markermeer, in our Sailing Route or even sail through the Nord Nederlandse Canal. This way you will always discover something new, even though you have been with us a few times before.
The Frisian Lakes
Our Home port Stavoren is the entrance to the beautiful inland of Friesland. Here a large amount of ground is seized by water: The Frisian Lakes. The two largest lakes, the Fluessen with the Village Heeg and Lake Sloter, are a stone’s throw from our home port. Here you can discover the beautiful Fauna and charming villages of a pretty awesome part of the netherlands. In addition there are uninhabited islands on the Fluessen, which invite you us with their ambiente to light a campfire, watch stars and enjoy the peace and quietness.
The Wadden Sea
You can’t get enough of the beauty of the Wadden Sea. At low tide, we sail past the drying sandbanks, and at high tide, the seals swim with us. The salty air, beautiful nature and diverse wildlife are phenomenal. The Wadden Sea is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is the largest nature reserve in Europe. We love sailing on the tidal waters. The combination of nature, sportive sailing and the Wadden Sea islands is the most beautiful thing for us! Each island has its unique atmosphere, but they have one thing in common: they are all beautiful!
Lake IJssel and the MarkermeeR
There are dozens of charming harbor towns around the IJsselmeer and the Markermeer! Visit the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen and experience for yourself how people used to live and work around the IJsselmeer. Or visit the Watergemal in Lemmer. There are great beaches and picturesque town centers with nice cafes that are worth exploring. During the sailing trip there is enough time to anchor and take a fresh dip in Lake Ijssel. More over we can can also reach the Ketelmeer, Amsterdam and the North Holland Canal from out the IJsselmeer.
